I will be attending one of the most prominent magnet schools here in the fall. Is there anything I should be doing now to help prepare for financial aid and scholarships? There is a lot of talk about those things coming to an end. I am concerned. Thank you. Daniel

Good evening Daniel! I appreciate you tackling financial aid early. You are never too early to prepare. Here is some helpful information regarding financial aid:
The AADHE is aware of the uncertainty of federal financial aid due to the freezing of federal funding. As of now, Federal Student Aid has said in an official statement that federal funding for education (student loans, Federal Pell Grants, etc.) will not be impacted. However, the status of federal financial aid is still unclear. Despite this uncertainty, I still encourage you to complete the FASFA. My organization will continue to watch this situation closely.
As an 8th grader you do not need to apply for the FAFSA until your senior year. However, you can start applying for scholarships now. I recommend that you check out our Scholarships/Grants page for scholarship database resources and scholarship opportunities. When you approach your senior year, continue to apply for scholarships but start filling out the FASFA (federal aid) and the CSS Profile (non-federal institutional aid).
Keep up the good work Daniel! Continue to stay encouraged. We will get through this uncertain time together.
