My test score is low because I had a lot of disruption in my life. My mom lost her job so we had to move a three times and my father has never been in the picture. I mean, I talk to him sometimes but he is no help and if anything, he tries to take from me. He has a drug habit. Things have been rough. Do I have a chance at any scholarships? And if not how do I get started on loans and will loans pay for everythng? I am going to need help in order to go to college. I dont want to fail. Any advice you can give me is truly appreciated. Oh yea, I saw you on instgram. Imani

Thank you for reaching out Imani! I am sorry you had to go through these hardships. I know it wasn't easy. I commend you for your dedication to maintaining high grades despite your challenges. We are hear to help. In regards to scholarships, be encouraged, there are many options available to you.
You most definitely have a shot at scholarships. I would recommend that you apply to as much as you can. Big or small, applying for scholarships can go a long way and can add up. Many scholarships require you to write essays but, there are also no-essay scholarships which you can apply to sometimes just with one click. Please check out our website's Scholarships/Grants page for reliable scholarship websites and a few notable scholarships.
Additionally, you need to fill out the FAFSA. Though it is known to provide federal student aid via student loans, it also offers federal pell grants. Grants are sums of money that is awarded to you without the obligation of paying it back - in short, this money has no financial liability attached. Again, please fill out the FAFSA to receive federal pell grants as well as student loans if that is your choice. Make sure to check your prospective universities' financial aid deadlines and submit your application by those dates. Almost every university requires this.
Also, many universities require the submission of the College Board's CSS Profile. This application is for non-federal aid which can help you receive financial aid from the state that you will be attending school in and organizations.
I know that this is a lot of information Imani but taking these steps will help you pay for college with limited or maybe even no debt. I hope that I provided you with the answers you needed.
